- ➤ Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend welcomes Winter Days every weekend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until March 15, offering train rides, giraffe feeding, and warm indoor breaks (adults $12, children $10, special events $3). The full season will open on March 28. WSBT
- ➤ A couple from St. Joseph experienced travel delays in Aruba as the U.S. operation in Venezuela led to flight cancellations and long customs lines, forcing them to pay double for their ticket before eventually returning home. WSBT
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Tippecanoe Place restaurant closed its doors Monday in South Bend after serving families for 45 years at a historic mansion (Studebaker Mansion). Owner Kevin Jakel said the building’s upkeep required resources he no longer had. WSBT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The History Museum and Studebaker National Museum will offer free entry on Jan. 19 to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Visitors can explore exhibits and join timed tours of the Oliver Mansion in South Bend. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ South Bend Symphony will host an event on Jan. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (University of Notre Dame) featuring Handel classics and a world premiere oboe concerto by Kincaid Rabb, with Principal Oboist Jennet Ingle and guest conductor Fernanda Lastra. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of South Bend and a contractor are repairing six boilers at Karl King Tower to restore heat for residents who have been without it since Thanksgiving. At least one boiler is expected to run by end of today or tomorrow — all six will be completed by week's end. WSBT
- ➤ The Corporation for Public Broadcasting dissolved after its board voted Monday night to end the organization when Congress cut its federal backing — WNIT confirmed that the move will not affect its service while WVPE said future music licensing and programming may be impacted. WSBT

- ➤ The NIC honored top girls wrestlers for the 2025-26 season by naming New Prairie’s coach Kevin Macias as Coach of the Year — freshman Penn's Madeline Thompson and senior New Prairie's Aubrey Schelstraete were named Co-MVPs after their teams competed at the NIC Meet. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Notre Dame basketball junior point guard Markus Burton is recovering after a broken left ankle and Dec. 10 surgery but remains sidelined until at least mid-February while freshman center Tommy Ahneman makes progress after offseason knee surgery. South Bend Tribune
