  • South Bend will honor MLK Day with multiple events this week. On Jan. 19, Century Center (120 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) hosts a 40th annual celebration including a memorial march, workshops, and a community service breakfast, while local churches hold concerts and worship services throughout the week.  South Bend Tribune
  • Local events this week in South Bend span a range of interests, with Maple 101 at Bendix Woods on Jan. 14 and a live jazz show at Merriman’s Playhouse later that day, plus family and arts programs planned through Jan. 18 (check local listings for details).  South Bend Tribune

  • Neighbors opened the McKinley Terrace Neighborhood food pantry at 3227 Sorin Street on Sunday, Jan. 11 to give residents free access to essential food items. The pantry works like a library so community members can take or leave items as needed.  WSBT

  • The local 'Drunk With Buds' podcast, hosted by Bruce Burkart and Phillip 'Honer' Towne, recorded on Jan. 10, has attracted community fans with lively beer tastings and interviews at brew pubs such as Vinyl Tap and Niles Brewing Company — a growing hit among locals.  South Bend Tribune
