ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Saint Joseph High School van carrying the quiz bowl team tipped onto its side Saturday morning about 10-15 miles from West Lafayette, but all 9 students and 1 teacher were unharmed (emergency crews responded quickly and Principal Kennedy arranged for the team to return to school).  WSBT

CULTURE NEWS

  • The History Museum displays South Bend newspaper excerpts that reveal moments from 1901 to 1962—featuring a flywheel crash at Studebaker and a 1928 report on forgetful passengers. This archive provides a clear window into our local past.  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, Sen. Linda Rogers withdrew Senate Bill 248 that would have set up a local commission to select South Bend school board members — she said she will continue working with community leaders to support the schools.  ABC 57

  • Mishawaka Planning Commission approved Gurley Leep’s final site plan for a new 72-acre auto mall at Capital Avenue and Cleveland Road on Monday — the project will include eight dealerships, a maintenance facility, and a car wash, with construction set to begin in 2027 and traffic updates by 2036.  ABC 57

  • On Saturday, Jan. 17, the Penn swim team clinched the NIC girls meet title at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center scoring 673 points while showing star performances from Barnes, Riggins, and McGrath.
