- ➤ The CASA Program of St. Joseph County seeks volunteers as Court Appointed Special Advocates for foster children, with training held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Feb. 10 to March 19 at the CASA Training Room (1000 S. Michigan, Juvenile Justice Center). Applicants must complete an application and background checks. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ The Raclin Murphy Encore Center, a 20,000 sqft expansion of the Morris Performing Arts Center, is holding grand opening events from Jan. 22 to Feb. 6, including Tony Award winner Gary Edwin Robinson's presentation on Jan. 22 and a concert with October London and Micki Miller on Jan. 24. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Residents have seen a steep rise in NIPSCO bills, with one customer's December bill nearly doubling and causing financial strain. NIPSCO explained the increases were due to more natural gas usage in cold weather (boosting delivery charges) and offered Budget Plan and financial assistance options to help manage costs. WSBT

- ➤ The Michiana Academic and Recreation Alliance (MARA) renamed itself recently and now serves as South Bend's hub for after-school programs, tutoring, mentoring and sports, expanding its network from 12 to 95 partners including the Boys and Girls Club and Police Athletic League, with a mission to support academics for athletes. - ➤ Applications are open for the free 2026 Spring Citizens Police Academy hosted by the South Bend Police Department, offering interactive lessons from units (such as SWAT and K9) every Tuesday evening from Mar. 3 until May 5 in the auditorium while registration ends on Feb. 13 for adults. ABC 57

- ➤ Northridge boys basketball beat Penn 47-36 on Tuesday, Jan.20 in a strong defensive game led by Brady Scholl who recorded a double-double. The Raiders will host Mishawaka Friday, Jan.23 at approximately 7:30 p.m. in a Northern Lakes Conference contest. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Notre Dame football granted defensive tackle Jason Onye a sixth year of eligibility after a redshirt waiver was approved on Jan. 20. Onye recorded 17 quarterback hurries in his final five starts last season and will return to the team this season. South Bend Tribune
