  • Campbell Ford is showcasing a limited edition 2025 Mustang GTD this week for car fans with a supercharged V8 that produces over 815 horsepower. The dealership is also partnering with Threads of Hope (aiming for 1,200 pairs of boots and sneakers) to support locals after winter.  WSBT

  • Downtown South Bend hosted its First Fridays celebration yesterday with a Fire and Ice theme featuring ice carvings, fire dancing and a fireworks show. Local hotspots offered cozy warmth (The Chicory, The Cellar, Fiddler's Hearth and South Bend Chocolate Cafe).  WSBT
  • St. Joseph County Public Library is honoring the Divine Nine with an exhibit that displays artifacts, photos, memorabilia, and apparel during Black History Month at its SmartBox Room at 304 S.   • The Raclin Murphy Encore Center opened today as phase two of the Morris 100 project ended, adding 20,000 sqft for community events, performances, and exhibits downtown. Mayor James Mueller said the new center builds on the theater’s legacy — phase three will add a parking garage.  WSBT

  • The Goshen Dura Shiloh plant will close on March 31, laying off 172 workers as the company cites a lack of business & a Chicago-based law firm is investigating whether the 57-day notice meets the WARN Act requirement.  WSBT

  • Michelle Samuel of LaVille Jr/Sr High School was honored as Tribune Student of the Week on Feb. 2 — she was recognized by readers for her leadership and helpful attitude.  South Bend Tribune
  • A bill is proposed to ban cell phones from bell to bell in schools, expanding a 2024 law to cut distractions and boost face-to-face conversation (Teshka noted phones distract both students and adults). If passed for the 26-27 school year, schools will set rules for device storage during lessons.  WSBT

  • Rhett—an 8-month-old basset hound from Mishawaka—is leading the Animal Planet Pupularity Playoffs with 56% of votes as official results will be announced today. He will compete on Team Fluff in the Puppy Bowl XXII on Sunday, Feb. 8.  South Bend Tribune
