  • Dustin's Place is expanding its services into South Bend by launching Family Grief Nights to support children and adults coping with loss; sessions run every other Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. — the program meets growing needs in St. Joseph County.  WSBT
  • The South Bend Polar Plunge will celebrate its 10th year on Feb. 28 at the 1st Source Bank Performance Center. Participants will register at 10:30 a.m. and plunge at noon to raise funds for Special Olympics Indiana that supports athletic and leadership programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities.  South Bend Tribune
  • Historical photos capture Jesse Jackson’s speaking events and community engagements in South Bend from 1975 to 2011. The images show keynotes at Notre Dame, fundraising dinners, and local gatherings that highlight his longstanding impact.  South Bend Tribune

  • Edison Middle School principal Jesus Pedraza said Notre Dame football star Leonard Moore visited on Feb. 13 to share his journey with students * sparking discussions about academic and athletic opportunities.  South Bend Tribune

  • South Bend Redevelopment Commission approved a $200,000 design plan for the Western Avenue Transformation District, a donation of a vacant lot on Euclid, increased funds for Ivy Alley Social House and 30-day bid talks on a parking lot at 1818 W. Sample St after no bids came in.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Edison Middle School football coach Don Johnson (24) said Notre Dame football star Leonard Moore’s visit boosted Tackle Attendance and motivated students at the school.  South Bend Tribune
  • The South Bend Cubs are hiring part-time, seasonal game day employees for roles including concessions, custodial services, ushers, parking attendants, and video production; they held a job fair Tuesday and scheduled another at Howard Park (5:30–7 p.m.) Feb. 24.  WSBT
  • Fred Hale Jr., the associate director of strength and conditioning for Notre Dame football, left his position on Feb. 17 for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, where he will work in a similar role with director Fernando Noriega.  South Bend Tribune
