- ➤ Former Notre Dame tackle Aamil Wagner was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his community service in South Bend on Feb. 28. He, who is finishing his master’s degree, said he remains focused on his football career while giving back to the community (politics can wait). South Bend Tribune
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Kroger closed its South Bend store at 4526 W. Western Ave last August and is now shutting other locations as part of a nationwide efficiency plan. The chain will open new Kroger Marketplace stores in Noblesville and Zionsville later this year (with a Crawsfordsville location planned for early 2027). South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Venues Parks — Art’s Equity in the Arts team will host the Form & Function showcase on Mar. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Raclin Murphy Encore Center’s Equity in the Arts Gallery, featuring work by 21 high school seniors from local CTE programs. ABC 57
- ➤ A fedora worn by Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne is on display at The History Museum at 897 Thomas St as part of the Rockne: Life & Legacy exhibit. The Batt siblings loaned the hat after an accidental swap with Maurice Vennet at an Elks Club meeting. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Researchers from Notre Dame reported that bald eagles laid their third egg Friday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's County Park — only two eggs remain after the first cracked during incubation, unlike last year when none were viable. WSBT

- ➤ The No. 19 Bethel men’s basketball team lost 89-82 to the No. 2 Grace team on Saturday in the Crossroads League tourney semifinal — the Pilots will learn on Monday if they host early rounds of the NAIA National Tournament. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Former Notre Dame captain Billy Schrauth explained his decision to turn pro at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday, Feb. 28, saying he feels ready to play his best after a season-ending knee sprain (having talked to trusted advisors) and that his love for the game outweighs injury risks. - ➤ Coach Micah Shrewsberry and his team have faced a disappointing season so far, and three upcoming games may help spark a turnaround (fans remain hopeful). ABC 57
- ➤ Notre Dame star Jeremiyah Love recorded a blazing 40-yard dash time of 4.36 seconds (one of the top 10 fastest) at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Lucas Oil Stadium. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ At the NFL scouting combine held Saturday in South Bend, college stars including Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza and four-down back Jadarian Price set early benchmarks during on-field workouts and interviews. Mendoza impressed teams like the Las Vegas Raiders while Price showcased versatility, setting the stage for upcoming pro days. ABC 57
- ➤ The Penn Kingsmen boys swimming team finished second at the IHSAA state finals on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the IU Natatorium with a record-breaking total of 247 points, led by senior Luke Temeles in the relay as they edged out Carmel by a narrow margin. South Bend Tribune
