COMMUNITY NEWS

  • From March 9 to 15, local venues host a diverse lineup of family events, including a LEGO & DUPLO display at Silver Beach Carousel, a film discussion at the library, live music in Goshen, and a garden class at the Community Learning Center. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Megan Barthel of Mishawaka High School was named The Tribune Student of the Week for March 2 based on reader votes—nominees included students from both Mishawaka and Adams High, and new nominations will be revealed Monday.  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Mishawaka must use a detour as the intersection of Vistula Road—Oakley Avenue closes today from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. while crews inspect the sewer for the Oakley Avenue Reconstruction Project; detours follow Lincolnway East and Ballard Avenue.  WSBT
  • Starting today, eastbound traffic on East 12th Street from Merrifield Avenue to Campbell Street in Mishawaka will be closed for reconstruction while westbound lanes remain open for access to local businesses. Crews have set up barricades and a detour route (no closure duration provided).  WSBT
  • Today, Lafayette Boulevard is closed between Monroe and South Streets for sewer and water connection work at Stadium Flats. A detour along Main Street is in place and work will finish April 2 weather permitting.  WSBT
  • Starting today, East 3rd Street is closed from Union Street to Pine Street for utility and road improvements, so drivers must use the Pine and 3rd intersection. The project is expected to finish mid-July and a follow-up phase will close the road from Pine to Cedar Street.  WSBT
