COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Better Business Bureau serving Northern Indiana warned consumers of online pet scams as National Puppy Day nears on March 23 and advised them to verify seller credentials (by meeting in person or checking references) before making payments to avoid unexpected fees.  South Bend Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • South Bend will host the 26th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 14 with a start at 11 a.m. down Jefferson Boulevard, featuring floats, marching bands and Irish dancers—followed by live music at Seitz Park from noon and festivities at St. Hedwig Memorial Center until 4 p.m.  South Bend Tribune
  • Over 500 artworks by local students in the Scholastic Art Awards are on display at the South Bend Museum of Art, which opened the exhibit on March 4. The museum remains open until April 13 for visitors to enjoy creative pieces & celebrate emerging talent.  South Bend Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • WSBT 22 has investigated how a rapid increase in data centers may push up electric bills for Hoosiers. Citizens Action Coalition warned that these facilities may use more electricity than other buildings — intensifying concerns over rising utility costs.  WSBT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A flood warning is in effect for the St. Joseph River in South Bend and the North Branch of the Elkhart River near West 1000 North as water levels are expected to rise over the next couple days, and areas with flood history like Jewell Woods face increased risk.  WSBT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame basketball finished its 2025-26 season with a mix of thrilling overtime wins and tough losses, including a dramatic win over NC State and a double-overtime loss to Virginia. The season marked the first time in 31 years without a conference tournament trip as the team struggled with turnovers.  South Bend Tribune
  • USA TODAY Sports announced on March 11 that UConn’s Sarah Strong, Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes & Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo were unanimous First Team All-Americans for the 2025–26 season.
