  • The Notre Dame Law School Eviction Clinic is investigating unsanitary and unsafe conditions at the historic Hoffman Hotel Apartments after tenants filed 311 complaints, and city inspectors have scheduled follow-up inspections as management remains unresponsive.  WSBT

  • Trader Joe's will release its new limited-edition lavender large canvas tote bag on Monday, March 23 at Indiana stores - the bag is priced at $3.99 and features lavender trim with a pink logo.  South Bend Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Karissa Richhart of LaVille Jr/Sr High School was named the Tribune Student of the Week for March 16 after readers voted for her. Nominees included students from Mishawaka High and NorthWood High (check back on Monday for next week’s nominations).  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Bend Police honored officers at an awards ceremony on Friday, March 20 at Four Winds Casino, naming Sergeant Tim Taylor 2025 Officer of the Year for his work with the elderly and mentoring new officers.  WSBT

  • Charlotte, a 3½ year old social and playful dog at the Humane Society of St. Joseph County in Mishawaka, is available for free adoption thanks to a fully sponsored fee. She has been at the shelter since last June after being found near Battell Park and enjoys energetic outdoor play.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame football tight end Ty Washington tried fencing at Purcell Pavilion during the NCAA Fencing Championships yesterday — gathering teammates to watch the event — and said he enjoyed the sport and might add it as a new hobby.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame women's basketball faces Fairfield today at 2 p.m. ET at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus (Ohio State’s campus location) with the game on ESPN (available via most TV providers). The winner will advance to Monday’s matchup against the Buckeyes or Howard.  South Bend Tribune
  • At Notre Dame spring practice Friday, the team tested a new offensive line look by moving 6-foot-7 tackle Will Black to left tackle and shifting junior Anthonie Knapp to left guard after captain Billy Schrauth left for the NFL draft; coach Joe Rudolph is reviewing the changes.  South Bend Tribune
