Police reported that a vehicle with mechanical issues caused its trailers to scatter on the westbound lanes of US 20 bypass near Beech Road — drivers are urged to allow extra travel time — as crews work to clear the road.

Mishawaka police responded at 9:50 p.m. on Monday to a disturbance on Elder Street where battalion fire chief Christopher Haggerty allegedly hit a victim with a paper towel holder and raised a cutting board as if to hit them.

He was arrested for domestic battery and must not contact the victim.

Today, gas prices in our area went up by 30 cents a gallon after stations switched from a winter blend to a summer blend that costs more to produce.
