COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sound Management is hosting the 2025 South Bend Auto Show at Century Center in downtown on Saturday and Sunday— the event will display over 150 vehicles and offer interactive attractions such as a swap meet, a Patriot Room, a man cave and a kids zone with doors opening at 9 a.m. on both days. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, veterans and first responders while kids 12 and under get in free and parking is free downtown or $5 at the venue.  ABC 57

CRIME NEWS

  • South Bend Police are seeking help to identify witnesses to a shooting at a GoLo gas station on Miami Street on March 23—when a victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries around 5:30 p.m.—after releasing video footage that captured activity before the incident.  South Bend Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Michigan Aquarium Society will host the free Killi Karnival and Tropical Magic event at Resurrection Lutheran Academy on March 29—30. On Saturday, attendees will join a swap meet, fish shows, and talks starting at 10 a.m. eastern while Sunday will feature an auction of aquarium items.  ABC 57

EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Bend Navy Ensign Oliver Hasler led a STEM tour on USS Somerset for local students on March 21 — sailors and NASA engineers hosted the tour before Underway Recovery Test 12 that will support NASA's Artemis II mission.  ABC 57

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting today, lane restrictions and closures will be in effect on Ireland and Ironwood Road as work begins on a six-phase intersection improvement project that will reconstruct pavement, realign curbs, and install new traffic signals. In the first phase, lasting about three weeks, southbound Ironwood traffic will be reduced to one thru lane and one left turn lane—right turns onto Ireland will not be allowed.  WSBT
  • South Bend began lane restrictions and closures today at the Ireland Road-Ironwood Drive intersection as crews start the first phase of a six-phase reconstruction project that rebuilds pavement, realigns curbs and updates traffic signals. The $1.8 million project will run for about 21 days per phase until it finishes by early July—motorists are advised to use detours while businesses remain accessible.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Notre Dame women’s basketball team will face TCU in the Sweet 16 on March 29 at 1 p.m. at Legacy Arena in Birmingham—the game will air on ABC and 96.1 WSBT-FM. Notre Dame, which is 3—0 against TCU, is aiming for its first Sweet 16 win since 2019 while TCU prepares for a tournament debut.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football coach Joe Rudolph said his offensive line shows strong leadership with injured junior guard Billy Schrauth and right tackle Aamil Wagner, who started every game last season. He added rehabbing center Ashton Craig helps younger players—strengthening the group—while more leaders will emerge this fall.  South Bend Tribune
  • Indiana Basketball Coaches Association released its 2024-25 IBCA/Franciscan Health teams for boys basketball—Supreme 15 and Large and Small School All-State teams—to honor top players without regard to school size. A panel of 22 regional coaches cast votes to name players for both senior and underclass honors.  South Bend Tribune
  • South Bend Cubs (local team) will upgrade food options at Four Winds Field for the upcoming season by introducing items like Mexican Street Tacos and rotating opponent-themed burgers that will debut on Opening Day April 8th. The upgrades come amid ongoing stadium renovations and will include special alcohol options from the round bar and Tiki Hut (catering manager Jordyn Fitzgerald confirmed the plans).  WSBT
