EDUCATION NEWS

  • Starting this fall, Bremen Public Schools will expand its daycare services to include the public, offering extended year-round hours and academic activities to help prep toddlers for preschool and kindergarten (enrollment is available on the school website).  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Mayflower Road Bridge will close for one month starting Monday, April 6 for slab replacement after earlier repairs revealed an issue. Detours remain on US 20 and State Rd 2, and the county will pave nearby roads once the bridge reopens.  WSBT
  • A non-profit watchdog is investigating Blackstone’s 20% stake in NIPSCO as rising energy bills prompt questions over cost increases — Communications Director Matt Parr explained that private equity tactics may contribute to steeper bills and urged residents to contact state lawmakers regarding HEA 1002.  ABC 57
