- ➤ The Family and Children's Center in St. Joseph County hosted a Spotlight Dinner at Four Winds Casino in South Bend last night where former NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper shared his story of overcoming childhood challenges and leading the Minnesota Vikings while advocating for children in need. The event ran from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and gave guests a chance to meet him. ABC 57
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A deadly crash on East Mishawaka Road near Concord High School hurt two men when one car hit another just before 5 a.m. Thursday, police said—one driver died at the scene and the other was taken to the hospital as authorities closed the road for investigation. WSBT

- ➤ The South Bend Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Alastair Willis, will perform at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Morris Performing Arts Center on April 12, playing works by Vaughan Williams, Piazzolla, and Bartók—featuring Grammy Award-winning Hector Del Curto as the bandoneón soloist for Piazzolla’s concerto. - ➤ St. Joseph County’s emergency management agency nearly finished its multi-hazard mitigation plan using FEMA BRIC funds before the program was cut on April 4 and will search for the remaining $200 if alternative funding is not available. Nearby counties canceled planned projects like improved flood monitoring and siren upgrades because of the funding cut. ABC 57
- ➤ A public town hall meeting—organized by Common Cause Indiana and Michiana Alliance for Democracy—will take place on April 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gillespie Conference Center as experts discuss issues like education, immigration, civil rights, health care and the environment. The groups have invited Rep. Rudy Yakym but his participation is not yet confirmed. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Mishawaka’s Main Street Bridge over the Indiana Toll Road will have northbound lanes closed for a two-phase face-life starting April 14 through July, and Phase II will follow in July and last into mid to late October—drivers are advised to use the posted detour on Grape Road. - ➤ At least six measles cases have been reported in Allen County, marking the first outbreak in Indiana since 2019.
