- ➤ Bob Sauer, a Wyatt tornado survivor who was 10 when Palm Sunday tornadoes struck on April 11th, 1965, recalls sheltering with his family in a bank vault as the storm destroyed his childhood home. - ➤ A 40-year-old South Bend man, Regis Owens, was arrested in Texas on drug dealing charges after investigators tracked him from a March search of a home on O’Brien Street that uncovered 2½ pounds of fentanyl, 1 pound of heroin, and over 1,000 pills—he now awaits extradition to St. Joseph County. - ➤ St. Joseph County's Emergency Management Agency announced a major upgrade to the county’s tornado siren system to boost severe weather alerts. The agency will spend $1.5 to upgrade 67 sirens and add 5 new ones in Lakeville, North Liberty, Penn Township and New Carlisle—teams are set to begin work in two weeks. WSBT
- ➤ St. Joseph County property tax bills were mailed on April 10 and include both the spring and fall remittance coupons for property owners.
