- ➤ More than 70 volunteers cleaned up the Portage Manor area on Saturday as they collected 210 bags of trash along Portage Avenue from Boland Drive to Council Oak Center (organized by county surveyor Derek Dieter). WSBT
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On its 61st anniversary, the community recalls the Palm Sunday Tornadoes outbreak of April 11, 1965, which spawned 47 tornadoes, killed 82 people and injured nearly 700. WSBT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ South Bend History Museum displays vintage newspaper excerpts, including a 1967 report of 200 to 300 Notre Dame students attempting a panty raid at St. Mary’s College, and spans local events from 1904 to 1942 that capture the city’s colorful past. South Bend Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than 200 female leaders and students gathered at McKenna Hall on Saturday, April 11 for the Business of Her conference. The event featured panels, breakout sessions, inspirational stories, and networking + the first 50 registrants received a free tote bag and it was created by a Notre Dame alumna. WSBT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Volunteers at Bendix Woods County Park worked to restore the iconic Studebaker trees, planted in 1938 to spell out the brand from the sky. The group removed brush yesterday and will meet again on May 9 (9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) to continue the conservation effort. WSBT
