- ➤ After a record season with 14 wins that took Notre Dame to the national championship game, the football team is set to add eight players from the transfer portal and begin a new competition at quarterback and on defense. New GM Mike Martin said the team will keep working on player development and recruitment, and he noted transfers like cornerback Devonta Smith—who played 12 games for Crimson Tide without giving up a touchdown—as key to the revamp.
