On April 13, the South Bend school board voted to recognize instructional and kindergarten aides as a union — reinforcing support for staff in local schools.

South Bend Community Schools ended its contract with Chartwells Monday night and will switch to in-house food service in July (saving $1.3 million), as announced by the board.
