ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Unity Gardens held an early Earth Day celebration Saturday with volunteer opportunities, hands-on workshops, and a community walk - the event showcased the garden's mission to connect people to fresh food and nature.  WSBT
  • Overnight storms damaged parts of Michiana and crews in Lydick and Marshall County worked to clear fallen trees and broken utility poles. In South Bend, a homeowner near the state line reports a tree fell on her house while neighbors are recovering and restoring power.  WNDU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame freshman wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald made standout touchdown catches in a scrimmage yesterday at the Irish Athletics Center. Coach Marcus Freeman said he will offer Fitzgerald more chances to shine against tougher competition.  South Bend Tribune
  • Bethel University men's volleyball team won the WHAC title with a 3-1 win over Indiana Tech on April 18 at Goodman Gym. The No. 8 Pilots will compete in the 12-team NAIA Nationals in Cedar Rapids starting April 28.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman said sophomore Dallas Golden will miss the final three spring practices, including the Blue-Gold Game on April 25, because of a lower back sprain.
