- ➤ A South Bend woman was freed after new Facebook Live footage showed the motorcyclist was speeding over 100 mph moments before the crash—contradicting trial evidence used at her August 2023 trial. Kara Beaty, who was 18 when the 2020 crash occurred, had been sentenced to six years in prison with three years of probation until a judge dismissed the criminal charges. WSBT
