- ➤ Hadley is a calm 4-year-old dog who was abandoned and cared for at SBARC a month ago and is ready for her forever home. She knows basic commands, is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and spayed, and she loves belly rubs while getting along with kids and dogs but will need cat testing if cats are in the home. - ➤ Organizers say the Michiana Crime Stoppers Spring Shredding Event will take place at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to noon—community members can drop off unwanted documents for secure shredding with a $20 donation—and the event will run rain or shine. ABC 57
- ➤ This week many community meals are set up across the region, with Burger Night on April 24 at Galien American Legion Post 344, a fish/chicken/shrimp fry on April 25 at Ryan A. Balmer American Legion Post 161 in Mishawaka, and Kitchen Open on April 25 in South Bend. - ➤ St. Joseph County Parks will hold its second public open house on April 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Discovery Middle School in Granger to review park concept designs inspired by community survey results – collecting input for a new county park on Anderson Road. Officials said a final forum is scheduled for May 29 – giving residents another chance to review the final park concept. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Voters are invited to cast their votes for the South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week award for April 14-20, presented by the YMCA of Greater Michiana, with a new rule allowing one vote per hour per device.
