- ➤ Saint Mary's College will hold a commemorative Mass on Friday, Apr. 24 at 2 p.m. to celebrate 100 years of Holy Spirit Chapel at Le Mans Hall (livestream available). South Bend Tribune
- ➤ South Bend Green Drinks hosted a meeting yesterday at Cultivate Food Rescue on 1403 Prairie Ave from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event focused on food rescue and sustainability with South Bend Brew Werks offering a special beer (a portion of which supported Cultivate's mission). South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Mishawaka Fire Department responded on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m. to a fire at AAA Mattress and Furniture on E. McKinley Ave, with neighboring crews helping firefighters battle hotspots (lithium battery explosions added to the noise) as investigators review storm activity for clues. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Three new restaurants were approved on April 14 by the Commission. Brew Drive-thru Coffee will rebuild Windy City Gyros with two drive-thru lanes on North Main St, Dutch Bros is planned for a vacant lot, and another restaurant will move into the United Federal Credit Union on Bremen Highway. - ➤ Lippert Industries and Patrick Industries are in early talks about a merger of equals aimed at strengthening their role in Michiana’s RV parts market — details remain uncertain as discussions continue. WSBT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Hairball, a tribute band for arena rock acts such as Van Halen and Queen, will perform at Four Winds Field on July 4 where fireworks will follow the show — tickets go on sale Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. South Bend Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Girls in grades 5-8 will join the GALS science program at St. Patrick's County Park on April 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., where they will dig soil samples with Erica Price and explore lab activities led by local educators; registration is required by April 22 (space is limited). - ➤ Beacon Health System opened a new outpatient center in downtown Mishawaka at Lincolnway East and Church Street today. The two-story 25,000 sqft facility offers advanced imaging, physical therapy, primary care and specialty services with online scheduling and digital check-in (designed for local convenience). WNDU
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Mishawaka is planning to convert a former motel on East McKinley Avenue (vacant since a fire last year) into a multifamily apartment complex to ease the housing shortage. City officials are coordinating the annexation process and will hold a public hearing in early May to review redevelopment blueprints. WSBT
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Austin Ratigan, a Saint Joseph senior, shined in his final football season as the Huskies earned championships and he won the Moose Krause Scholarship. He will join Notre Dame to study finance and try out as a walk-on tight end, planning to enroll in June. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Notre Dame basketball will add former Gonzaga point guard Braeden Smith for the upcoming 2026 to 27 season to improve its assist turnover ratio after three difficult seasons under coach Shrewsberry. Smith signed his commitment on Sunday and is expected to start as a guard when he arrives in June. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ John Glenn Football named Troy Sausaman as its new head coach, marking his first head coaching role in 22 years. He will meet with the Falcons today to outline his high expectations and work to revitalize the program. South Bend Tribune
