- ➤ Michigan-based Slate Auto raised $650M to boost work at its Warsaw facility and begin electric truck production later this year (which will create over 2,000 jobs in Kosciusko County). It plans to open preorders in June and deliver trucks starting in late 2026. WNDU

- ➤ On Monday, Apr. 22, gas prices in the Midwest fell to $3.79 per gallon from $3.89, according to the Energy Information Administration, and stayed about 6.3% below the national average of $4.04. Traders are watching Middle East tensions as spring driving season nears. South Bend Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Bend schools will add Pre-K programs at six extra elementary schools starting in August — raising the total to 14 sites for early learning. Enrollment is open and class sizes will be capped at 12 to give each child close attention. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Notre Dame will host a free public talk Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. in DeBartolo Hall room 101 when NASA science officer Kelsey Young discusses the Artemis program and her role in lunar science operations; Clive Neal will moderate the event which does not require tickets. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ A new Indiana law requires electric companies to enroll eligible customers in levelized billing beginning in July to average energy use over 12 months and keep monthly bills steady during extreme cold and heat. Indiana Michigan Power and NIPSCO will adjust bills in April and October based on usage differences. WNDU

- ➤ Residents can dispose of unused medications on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at drop-off sites operated by state police and the DEA — needles and sharps are not accepted. WNDU

- ➤ Riley and Washington baseball teams played on Apr. 22 at Redling Field and the Wildcats won 11-8 with key plays by junior Uriah Orozco — coaches praised the competitive play and focus on building a strong team identity. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Notre Dame running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price made history Thursday night when both were picked in the first round of the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh—becoming the first same-school pair and only running backs taken early since 1967, with Love joining the Cardinals and Price signing with the Seahawks.
