- ➤ LOGAN Community Resources is hosting a prom for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities this Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Four Winds Casino + is offering a free developmental screening day for young children on May 19 at its center, with prom registration closing today. WNDU
- ➤ The free Cinco de Mayo Festival will be held on May 2 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, featuring live music, dance, and authentic Mexican cuisine. All proceeds will support the restoration of St. Adalbert and St. Casimir Catholic Church — a historic local site. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Today, First Fridays in downtown South Bend kicks off at 5 p.m. with the Petals and Pedals event (a celebration featuring a bicycle parade, decorating contest, flower sale and plant crafts) that runs until 9 p.m. (entry is free). WSBT

- ➤ Michigan MotorSports broke ground on its new facility in South Bend on Thursday at Richardson Drive. The performance automotive parts retailer (currently based in Niles) plans to open the upgraded site early next year. WSBT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Road between York Road and Ironwood Drive remains closed through Monday, May 4; it will reopen on weekdays before closing again next weekend, while part of Locust Road from Prairie Avenue to Ireland Road will close for sewer and water work starting Monday until Friday, May 8. WNDU

- ➤ Former Notre Dame football star Ron Powlus was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the athletic department on April 30 and became the first to hold the role in South Bend, now overseeing football + sports performance, internal operations, equipment and facilities. South Bend Tribune
