COMMUNITY NEWS

  • South Bend churches St. Adalbert and St. Casimir are merging into one parish, with the change approved by Bishop Kevin Rhoades and set to take effect on July 1. Both church buildings will remain open—sacraments, feast days and festivals will continue as planned while restoration work carries on.  ABC 57

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Monday morning, the South Bend Fire Department answered a fire call at 5:30 a.m. at Dons and Divas Barbershop on West Western Avenue—smoke damaged Patricia Ann Florist next door—while crews quickly controlled the blaze with no injuries reported.  ABC 57

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Firefighters conducted live fire training at South Bend International Airport Monday morning from 8 a.m. until noon as part of FAA—mandated drills. The training did not disrupt flight operations.  WSBT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame men’s lacrosse will open its three-peat bid in the NCAA Tournament by playing fourth-seeded Ohio State at noon Sunday in Columbus. The Irish, coming off a 14-12 loss to Syracuse on May 2 in the ACC Tournament semifinals, will aim to reach the quarterfinals in Annapolis on May 17-18 and the match will air on ESPN2.  South Bend Tribune
