CULTURE NEWS

  • Marguerite Taylor, a lifelong community leader from the Northeast Neighborhood, will receive The History Museum’s 2026 African American Legacy Award at a Juneteenth reception — 897 Thomas St. — on June 9; reservations are due by today with tickets priced at $60.  South Bend Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mishawaka's Marian High School held its graduation ceremony at The Lerner Theatre in Elkhart on May 29, 2026, where graduates turned their tassels & tossed their caps in celebration.  South Bend Tribune
  • Saint Joseph High School held its commencement on May 31 at Purcell Pavilion. Graduates received diplomas and celebrated alongside families as school officials and speakers marked the milestone.  South Bend Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Construction on the Microsoft data center along Cleveland Road in Granger has raised dust concerns among local residents today. Microsoft + county officials plan to increase water application to control the dust as dry conditions persist.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The South Bend Human Rights Commission will host a talk on fair housing and AI on Thursday, June 4 at Mishawaka City Hall from 1 to 3 p.m. Myra Reid of AAK Law will lead the discussion (registration is required and refreshments will be provided).  South Bend Tribune
  • South Bend began its annual fire hydrant flushing program (lasting through Oct) as part of routine maintenance to prevent water stagnation and discolored tap water. The city advises residents to run three full-flow cold-water faucets until the water runs clear.  WSBT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore is featured on a leaked cover for EA College Football 27 alongside five other active players — the official rollout takes place in Chicago Thursday, June 4.  South Bend Tribune
