ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 4-year-old drowned in Syracuse Lake over the weekend after wandering from home around 4:45 p.m. Sunday—police found the child in three feet of water beneath a pier and attempted CPR before the child died at the hospital in what investigators ruled was an accidental incident. WSBT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Overnight between May 31 and June 1, Mishawaka police reported that a suspect used a BB gun to damage windows on 14 vehicles and a trailer park home—residents are asked to review outdoor camera footage and share any tips for a reward. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Over the weekend, Indiana State Police conducted a high visibility patrol in South Bend—issuing 31 tickets, 22 warnings and making multiple arrests including a 53-year-old man from Georgia after a chase along Ralph Jones Drive to East Jefferson Road while also rescuing a wandering goat near Family Dollar until the Animal Resource Center retrieved it. - ➤ Dashawn Hill, 31, was arrested on May 30 after Mishawaka police responded to a stabbing on West Broadway and Clay Street where a victim suffered an upper arm wound and was taken to a hospital, and Hill was later found about two miles away at Parkview Terrace Apartments and now faces a level five felony domestic battery charge by means of a deadly weapon. - ➤ A South Bend man, Dashawn Hill, was arrested last week on Broadway Street in Mishawaka for allegedly stabbing his ex-boyfriend and is now held at St. Joseph County jail facing a domestic battery charge by means of a deadly weapon. WSBT

- ➤ At West Side Elementary, third grade students improved their IREAD-3 scores in March with 70.9% passing, and Concord Community Schools has opened a summer window for retakes so students who did not pass can test two more times before it closes on June 27—district officials expect final results to show further progress when released in August. - ➤ Penn’s star Ava Zachary and New Prairie’s Ava Geyer were named Co-MVPs while their coaches, Beth Zachary and Derek Hicks, earned Co-Coach of the Year honors this season.
