Good morning, South Bend. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 4th of June.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • South Bend police will increase their foot and ebike patrols in busy public spaces this summer to help prevent violence after two past summers saw over 100 gunshots at neighborhood gatherings. Mayor James Mueller urged residents to leave guns at home and report anything suspicious (a measure intended to keep gatherings safe).  WSBT

  • Temple and Temple Excavating and Paving Inc. will close the right lane on northbound S.R. 23—between U.S. 20/31 and Renewable Rd—on or after June 9 for a culvert lining project; INDOT advises drivers to allow extra time and follow posted directions.  ABC 57
  • South Bend officials said the Ireland Road and Ironwood Drive intersection project will enter Phase Five as work on the southeast corner starts on or after tomorrow.
