  • Caleb Bauer and Mary Mcaffee from the City of South Bend announced that the fifth-year Linden Avenue Farmers Market returns at the Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Center—bringing fresh food and live entertainment to the area. The market will run on June 14, July 12, August 9, and September 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  ABC 57

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • South Bend fire crews rescued a man from the St. Joseph River beneath the Colfax Avenue Bridge on June 10 — officers performing a welfare check spotted him, and swift water personnel got him to shore before medics took him to the hospital for evaluation.  South Bend Tribune
  • On Tuesday, police responded to a welfare check near Colfax Avenue and MLK Blvd and saw a man by the pier under the Colfax bridge in downtown South Bend—firefighters rescued him from the St. Joseph River and took him to the hospital for observation.  WSBT

  • On Monday, May 12, Michael Clubb captured treasured views from Notre Dame showing landmarks like the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and the Golden Dome — symbols of the campus’s history and charm. The photos also highlight Saint Mary's Lake and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, offering a look at Notre Dame’s unique beauty.  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The St. Joseph County Department of Health announced Tuesday morning that its Mishawaka location will close for good by the end of this month due to funding issues. The immunization clinic closed Monday afternoon and the Vital Records Office will remain open until June 20—after which residents will receive services at the County-City Building in South Bend on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  WSBT

  • The St. Joseph County Department of Health is closing its Mishawaka office in June due to funding issues—vaccinations and vital records will continue at the County-City Building in South Bend.  South Bend Tribune
