  • Emma Mears, age 20, was crowned Miss St. Joseph County Fair Queen Saturday night at the 10th annual pageant where she faced 8 other young women. Logan Rush and Emberly Ruhl were crowned Fair Prince and Princess, adding to the event's longstanding local tradition.  WSBT
  • Dozens of volunteers gathered at Kennedy Park on Saturday morning to clean streets such as Rogers, Bertrand, Olive, Richardson and Crafts — an initiative led by Councilwoman Ophelia Gooden-Rodgers aimed at empowering neighborhood organizations.  ABC 57

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An elderly female died after her car hit an eastbound train at the Spring Street railroad crossing near 6th Street in Mishawaka on Saturday evening—police say the train remains stopped—and the investigation is ongoing.  WSBT

CRIME NEWS

  • Indiana State Police completed a major bust on Friday when they seized 33 pounds of marijuana, a pound of wax + 300 THC vape cartridges during a traffic stop on the Bypass near U.S. 20.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Bend city leaders are addressing the planned closure of the Kroger on Western Avenue—one of 60 locations closing nationwide—because it serves many local residents who rely on it for essential groceries. City officials, including council member Sheila Niezgodski, sent a letter to Kroger asking for a meeting to discuss the building’s future and community needs.  WSBT

  • Today at Boehm Park, the third annual Ray Comer pickleball classic honored Ray Comer's legacy as a former athletic director and founding figure for pickleball in Michiana. Many local players joined to celebrate his contributions to the sport—bringing together players of all ages.  ABC 57
