- ➤ Seitz Park reopened on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that reinstalled the Firefighters Memorial — the park now offers a pavilion, river lights, bathrooms and a concession building while a rededication ceremony for the memorial is planned. WSBT
- ➤ Seitz Park officially reopened tonight with renovations including a new concession stand, concert stage and raised riverwalk—marked by a ribbon cutting that honored longtime parks superintendent Jim Seitz’s legacy. James Seitz said the park will host concerts every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to welcome people of all ages. ABC 57

- ➤ A section of Lincolnway West at Olive Street is closed in South Bend due to a structure fire — the South Bend Fire Department said a vacant building is now under control and urged motorists to avoid the area. ABC 57

- ➤ On July 16th, new owners Steve and Amy Stidham renovated the former Oaken Bucket restaurant in South Bend for its rebranding as the Bucket Shack + they removed old signage and cleaned the interior in preparation for reopening. South Bend Tribune
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Elizabeth Ashley Trowbridge was sentenced on Thursday in St. Joseph County for impersonating a cop after she claimed to be an officer and allegedly slashed a homeowner's tire—she is on one year of probation with her jail time suspended unless she violates probation. WSBT
- ➤ St. Joseph County police responded to a report of a stabbing on Filmore Road west of the bypass and found two people with injuries who appeared to have been beaten—both were taken to hospital with their conditions still unknown. WSBT

- ➤ Ivy Tech Community College received a $275,000 donation from two donor groups to fund renovations on campus common areas and expand its automotive program—Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care will name six bays in its lab—and the Pfeil family’s gift will renovate the main campus gateway. WSBT

- ➤ South Bend area's top college football prospect, Tayshon Bardo, announced Wednesday he will leave Penn to play his senior year at Elkhart and will have immediate eligibility under the new IHSAA transfer rules—avoiding delays seen with previous transfers. Bardo, who committed to the University of Wisconsin last spring, becomes the third high-profile player to join Elkhart in the last two summers. South Bend Tribune
