- ➤ Thirty-one cyclists from the Journey of Hope have cycled 48 days from California and are in South Bend to raise awareness for disabled people—donating funds and volunteering locally—while planning to ride 15 more days before reaching the Capitol Lawn in D.C. WSBT
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ South Bend Fire Department responded around 9 a.m. Thursday on the 1300 block of Leeper Avenue after a man fell 25 feet from a roof and contacted an electrical wire—firefighters then transported the 25-year-old man with visible injuries to his arms and chest to Memorial Hospital in serious condition. - ➤ South Bend firefighters rescued pets from a house fire on Portage Avenue just before 7 a.m. Friday (two cats and several guinea pigs were saved though one cat did not survive) and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. WSBT

- ➤ South Bend Venues Parks & Arts will host its inaugural Inclusive Art Fair at Howard Park on July 28 to celebrate Disability Pride Day — the family friendly event will feature art sales, interactive activities, and live performances including a choir at 11 a.m., a guest speaker at 12:30 p.m., a dance at 1 p.m., and music therapy showcases at 5:30 p.m. ABC 57

- ➤ On Friday evening, Sheriff Bill Redman requested a new judge in the Todd Rokita lawsuit after Judge Mike Telloyan accepted his appointment as special judge on July 23 and two judges recused themselves due to conflicts; Attorney General Todd Rokita alleged the county upheld sanctuary policies and ignored ICE detainer requests+Redman strongly refuted the charges.
