- ➤ Goshen police arrested forty-three-year-old Catalino Hernandez on July 30 just before 8 p.m. at a home on the 1600 block of 10th Street after he allegedly punched a woman and fled; he faces charges of domestic battery—intimidation and resisting law enforcement—and pleaded not guilty in court with a return date set for Sept. 17. - ➤ South Bend woman Tonya R. Winston, 59, was found guilty of fraud charges after a three-day jury trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and theft of government money—her sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 25. ABC 57
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Art Beat returns today in downtown South Bend as vendors and artists set up along Jefferson Boulevard from the Century Center to Howard Park. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.—600 painters, sculptors, dancers, and musicians will showcase their work. WSBT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Olive Elementary School will let students leave campus once a week for a 45-minute bible class run by LifeWise Academy. The classes will begin after Labor Day and volunteers will provide full background check results to the district—ensuring the program meets Indiana law. ABC 57

- ➤ The South Bend SNAP benefits office is moving from the Commerce Building on Colfax Avenue to a new space at 3575 Moreau Court, Suite 300 in Blackthorne Park with relocation starting on August 15 and full service beginning August 18.
