ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ South Bend officers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at State Road 23 and Douglas Road— the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and drivers are warned to avoid the area. WSBT
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Forrest Lucas, founder of Lucas Oil, died at age 83 on Saturday — Lucas Oil posted his death on Facebook. WSBT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ South Bend Police said a person who was stabbed in the neck on North Walton Avenue just after 4:30 p.m. on August 22 was taken to the hospital and remained in stable condition by Saturday morning—an investigation is underway. WSBT
- ➤ South Bend man Zai’Vohn Perry, 25, pleaded guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime after exchanging fire in two residential shootings in January 2024 and was sentenced to 8 years and 5 months in prison with 3 years of concurrent supervised release—police recovered additional firearms and drugs at his home. - ➤ A new exhibit at The History Museum in South Bend honors Knute Rockne—an iconic Notre Dame football legend—by displaying key artifacts and stories from his early life to his tragic 1931 plane crash; the exhibit runs until the end of May and is included with museum admission. WSBT
