COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Roxy is nearly one-year-old with a white coat (with brindle spots and a unique nose with black and pink spots) and came in with her sister; she is now available for adoption in South Bend and gets along well with kids, cats and other dogs.  WSBT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Multiple units responded to a large barn fire in South Bend on Sunday around 5 p.m. in the 27000 block of Early Road near Warren Elementary School—roads were closed and one person was injured with their condition unknown.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lieutenant Bruce Faltynski was named Mishawaka Police Department 2024 Officer of the Year for his work in the Communication Relations Unit—he leads community meetings and outreach to connect the police with local residents.  ABC 57

SPORTS NEWS

  • In Sunday's 27–24 loss, Notre Dame football rarely handed the ball to star running back Jeremiyah Love during nearly two quarters—he recorded only 59 yards, leading coach Marcus Freeman to call for more involvement later in the game. Coach Carr said that not giving Love the ball cost key plays and hurt the running strategy.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football lost its opener to Miami 27-24, and Coach Marcus Freeman said the team will use the next 11 games to fix its offense + give running back Jeremiyah Love more chances after a limited 33-yard performance. They will work on both the passing game and overall execution to keep their championship hopes alive.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame redshirt freshman quarterback CJ Carr started his first game on Aug. 31 against Miami—coach Marcus Freeman told him that growing pains and teamwork are key as he learns his role, while experienced Georgia transfer Carson Beck entered the game with over 1,800 career snaps to his name. The coach stressed that success comes from using the whole team and building on each play.  South Bend Tribune
