COMMUNITY NEWS

  • South Bend will host its final Wine Walk on Sept. 10 in downtown from 5 to 9 p.m.—attendees will receive paired bites and wine samples, while Maple Grove Country Church holds its annual Hartman Fish Fry on Sept. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. offering fish, salad and desserts via a free will offering.  South Bend Tribune
  • South Bend and nearby communities will host festivals from Sept. 8 to 14 that include a classic car cruise in Middlebury on Thursdays, a murder mystery dinner in Elkhart on Sept. 12, a market at Teeple’s Pond on Sept. 12-13, a haunted park in Niles, a 'Gilligan’s Island' themed historical cruise in Michigan City on Sept. 13, and an architectural tour in Plymouth on Sept. 14.   • A variety of outdoor concerts are scheduled this week in the South Bend area including local artist Heyzeus performing on Sept. 10 at the St. Joseph County Public Library Western Branch from 4:30 to 6 p.m.—The Erly on Sept. 11, Box of Weapons on Sept. 12, and City Sun on Sept. 14 add to a lineup that spans nearby communities. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley is showcasing work by Indiana artist Craig Kilgore after his 28-day journey down Route 66 in 2024 — his artwork shows changes in landscapes and small communities. The exhibition runs Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until December 19.  WSBT

  • Voters are urged to cast unlimited votes in the South Bend Tribune Football Athlete of the Week poll covering high school games in Indiana from Sept. 1 to 6 and Michigan from Week 2. The poll remains open until 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday—local fans can support standout players as the contest unfolds.  South Bend Tribune
  • No. 8 Notre Dame football will return to game action Saturday night against No. 17 Texas A&M after a 13-day bye following an August 31 loss at Miami—fans are invited to leave questions or comments for the Pod of Gold podcast preview on Wednesday.
