BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new Kosher grocery store will open in downtown South Bend on September 16 from 12pm to 6pm. The store offers fresh produce, meat, sandwiches and a full-service bakery that serves only Kosher items — it will also hold a ribbon-cutting with food samples and kid games — to meet a local need for accessible groceries.  WSBT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Radio Sabor Latino cancelled its 23-year Mexican and Central American Independence Day festival at the Marycrest building parking lot on Western Avenue after organizers said rising ICE targeting put the Latino community at risk — the event will be held as a private gathering instead.  ABC 57

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Midwest gas prices fell last week to an average of $3.06 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday—down from $3.09 the previous week and about 4.3% below the national average.  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sept. 12, United States Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett spoke at the University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center in South Bend—she received a standing ovation after a prayer led by President Rev. HEALTH NEWS

  • ABC57 will air Bria Murphy's story tomorrow on ABC57 Kickoff, highlighting her 12-month battle with cancer. The live broadcast runs from 10am until noon outside Purcell pavilion and Notre Dame Stadium.  ABC 57

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Downtown South Bend saw The Cascade hold its groundbreaking Friday morning for the second phase—an eight-story tower that will have over 20 condos and commercial space to offer a high-end urban lifestyle and is set to be finished by 2027.  WSBT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame football faces a must-win game at home against Texas A&M as the team tries to rebound from a loss to ranked Miami — falling to 0-2 would hurt head coach Marcus Freeman's record. Star running back Love and freshman quarterback Carr must step up — giving the Irish a chance to pull away and regain momentum.  ABC 57
  • Today, Notre Dame home opener guests can buy Miller Lite, Coors Lite, Guinness, High Noon seltzer and single serving box wine at stadium concession stands—sales are cashless, limited to two drinks per transaction for those 21 with valid ID and end at the third quarter while safety protocols are enforced.  WSBT
