- ➤ New Day Intake Center is breaking ground at 4022 Old Cleveland Road in South Bend as it starts building a new 25,000-square-foot shelter; a ceremony is set for 1 p.m. tomorrow. The facility will have 30 single rooms and 45 double rooms with 120 beds, a clinic, laundry, a kitchen, and spaces for mental health, addiction help, art, and a chapel — and it is expected to be finished by late 2027. - ➤ Matthys Ballpark in South Bend was rededicated on Sept. 20 after fires in summer 2024 damaged two buildings—softball games marked the celebration.
