CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Studebaker Museum in South Bend announced it will open a Muppet exhibition called 'A Bear's Natural Habitat: The Return of Fozzie Bear's Studebaker' on Wednesday September 24—showing the fully restored 1951 Studebaker Commander from The Muppet Movie that was fixed over an 18-month period. The exhibit runs until Feb. 9, 2026 and includes a photo series with details of its Hollywood history and restoration. ABC 57
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The New Prairie United School Corporation held its second meeting Monday night to plan for nearly 10% population growth driven by the new Amazon Data Center—leaders discussed expanding schools and redrawing boundaries for future enrollment increases. WSBT
- ➤ South Bend School Corporation presented 'Plan C' at a town hall Monday to change middle schools into pre-K to sixth grade and seventh to eighth grade groups in an effort to retain students affected by transportation issues and multiple school setups—officials will hold more meetings for public feedback as the plan remains in review. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city held an official groundbreaking on Monday for the New Day Intake Center — a $19 million homeless shelter that will replace the temporary Motels4Now program at 4022 Old Cleveland Road. Construction will begin next spring and the shelter is set to open in 2027 with 120 beds and wraparound services on 15 acres. ABC 57

- ➤ St. Joseph County health officials will host an event on Thursday at the OneRoof Southeast Neighborhood Center on Dubail Avenue to help prevent opioid overdose deaths—officials will distribute Naloxone and provide training and resources for mental health and substance abuse. WSBT
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Notre Dame football will face Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green on Saturday; Green is a dual-threat with over 10,000 scrimmage yards. Coach Marcus Freeman said the team must set solid rush lanes — the strategy aims to stop Green from extending plays with his legs — after giving up over 300 passing yards in recent games. - ➤ Notre Dame defensive tackle Jared Dawson did not play against Purdue because he was held out—coach Marcus Freeman said he will return to practice this week and is expected to play Saturday at Arkansas. - ➤ On Saturday, Notre Dame beat Purdue 56—30 and freshman quarterback CJ Carr earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade ever by completing 10 of 12 passes for 223 yards with no interceptions. The win returned the Irish to the AP Top 25 at No. 22 and they will face Arkansas next. ABC 57
