- ➤ This week, South Bend and nearby communities will host a busy lineup of fall festivals, holiday bazaars, pop-up markets, ghost tours and seasonal train rides—events scheduled from Oct 6 to 12 for families to enjoy. Highlights include craft shows, community parties and local exhibits—each celebrating the region's unique traditions. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ South Bend Police Department held a charity golf outing Sunday at Brookwood Golf Club — organized by FOP Lodge 36 — to support Officer Travis Kukla as he battles non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. More than 20 teams and local sponsors raised funds to help with his medical expenses. ABC 57
- ➤ Taka is a loving dog at the South Bend Animal Resource Center who arrived as a stray and has been in care for about a month and a half—he is around one or two years old, plays with other dogs, and does best in a home with older or no children while he can be adopted separately from his brother Mufasa. - ➤ Parisi's Restaurant closed after serving the community for 44 years and held a customer appreciation evening with a $25 buffet, live entertainment and a bar. Owner Roberto Parisi said the business had reached its time to close — starting Monday, its equipment and furnishings will be for sale. WSBT

- ➤ Today, Sisters of the Holy Cross held a prayer service to honor the struggles and hopes of migrants and refugees on World Day of Migrants and Refugees—featuring Psalms readings and a candle lighting for immigrants. WSBT

- ➤ The Tribune has announced nominees for Student of the Week from LaVille Jr/Sr High, NorthWood High, Adams High and Mishawaka High, highlighting each student's academic and extracurricular achievements—voting is open until noon Thursday, Oct. 9 with the winner and more details featured on Friday in the online story and Monday's print edition. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of South Bend’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and The Academy are hosting the Supplier Access Summit on October 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Academy inside the Excel Center at 2721 Kenwood Ave to educate and connect local small businesses—businesses in St. Joseph and surrounding counties can apply with a $25 registration fee. - ➤ IHSAA boys and girls soccer sectional season has begun in South Bend with six ranked boys teams and seven ranked girls teams competing in local sectionals starting today and ending Oct.11. - ➤ Voting is open in the South Bend Tribune Week 7 Football Player of the Week Poll and will remain open until Oct 9 at 11:59 p.m.—voters may cast unlimited votes for their favorite high school players. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Notre Dame football won 28-7 over Boise State Saturday—16 players played on offense while 15 defensive linemen, including Christian Gray and Tae Johnson with 77 snaps each, took the field on defense. Quarterback CJ Carr and the offensive line played all 59 snaps and minor injuries did not change the game plan. South Bend Tribune
