BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Mishawaka City Council approved rezoning of a vacant lot on Main Street for a new Dutch Bros Coffee drive-thru near the former Aspen Tap house— the plan calls for a nearly 1,000-square-foot building with 26 parking spaces. Dutch Bros said it will double its number of stores by 2029.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana and Michigan do not have a set law for the age a child can be left home alone, so parents decide based on a child's maturity and local risks.   • People voted for the top non-football athlete of the week in a South Bend Tribune poll for Sept. 29 to Oct. 4 that closed at 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday—voters could submit as many votes as they wished.   • Notre Dame football defense faces a new challenge today when they match up against N.C. State quarterback CJ Bailey—an imposing 6-foot-6 freshman who made nine starts and holds an 80% completion rate in a clean pocket but drops to 58% under pressure.   • Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said injured tight end Cooper Flanagan returned to practice in a limited way and might debut in the game against N.C.
