COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local non-profits host meals this week with Soup Night at the YMCA O’Brien Center on Oct. 21, Burger Night at Galien American Legion on Oct. 23, a fish fry on Oct. 24, and Pancake & Biscuit Breakfast events on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. The Taste of Unity fundraiser for Unity Gardens is scheduled for Nov. 13 at Palais Royale—community members can support the cause by purchasing tickets.  South Bend Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • South Bend and nearby communities will host many events from today through Oct. 26 that include concerts, museum exhibits, ghost tours, and festive markets for adults and families. Highlights include an American Revolution pop-up exhibit in Plymouth, free concerts at Bethel University, an antique show in Rochester, and pumpkin-themed activities (with train rides and craft markets) across the region.  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Grape Road between Imus Drive and Catalpa Drive in Mishawaka will have northbound lane restrictions due to NIPSCO gas main repairs — traffic will shift to the center turn lane until 5 p.m. Friday, weather permitting.  WSBT

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • MaryAnn is a 6-year-old dog available for adoption from the South Bend Animal Resource Center — she is fixed, potty trained, and best suited for a home without cats or children. She loves giving hugs and kisses and will make a loyal companion for someone looking for a quiet pet.  WSBT

  • South Bend Heritage will host a reception on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at 3351 McKinley Ave.—the event will include a ribbon-cutting, guided tours, and a casual lunch from noon to 2 p.m. as guests and media explore the opening of 54 affordable housing units.  ABC 57

SPORTS NEWS

  • The South Bend Tribune has launched its High School Football Player of the Week poll and will take unlimited votes until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 23 — the poll features nominees from local schools including Buchanan, Concord, and Edwardsburg.  South Bend Tribune
  • Ryder Frost—a 6-foot-6 freshman wing guard from Beverly—has been scouted as a key shooter for Notre Dame’s 2025-26 basketball team, which will begin on November 3. Head coach Micah Shrewsberry said Frost’s ability to get open looks makes him a strong backup for the season.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football won 34-24 against USC in a game where the defense held the visitors to 68 rushing yards. Nine defensive linemen each took at least 16 snaps—while quarterback CJ Carr and wide receiver Malachi Fields played every offensive snap amid injuries to Gabriel Rubio and Loghan Thomas.  South Bend Tribune
