  • Potawatomi Zoo will host Zoo Boo from Oct. 24 to Oct. 26 with trick-or-treating, themed characters and attractions including a spooky train ride and giraffe feedings; visitors will enjoy a Treat Trail+ local food stands and themed fun focused on witches and wizardry. Admission costs start at $16 for adults and vary for children.  South Bend Tribune

BUSINESS NEWS

  • South Bend Walmart on Ireland Road underwent an $8.3 million makeover that added a new parking lot, rearranged departments, a full Hispanic aisle + an expanded outdoor power equipment department. Store manager Joshua said the 14-week renovations improved efficiency for both shoppers and staff.  ABC 57
  • LaSalle Kitchen & Tavern in South Bend announced via Facebook on Monday that it is taking a break amid staffing issues to explore private events and pop-up dining experiences — the restaurant said it will focus on maintaining quality at LaSalle Grill until it returns.  ABC 57

CULTURE NEWS

  • The South Bend Symphony Orchestra will perform the live score for 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' during film concerts at Morris Performing Arts Center on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m.—tickets cost between $41.75 and $151.25.  South Bend Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The South Bend Community School Corporation approved a resolution on Monday night to sell the long-vacant Marquette School building to the city, which will partner with United Way to create a one-roof neighborhood center offering services like early childhood education, mental health support, and WIC. The building will sell for $60,000, and a $14 million fundraising campaign is set to fund renovations that aim to preserve its historic features—potentially opening as early as 2030.  ABC 57

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Stargazers can watch the Orionid meteor shower peak today with about 20 meteors per hour and bright fireballs visible before 2 a.m.—partly cloudy skies may affect views. Viewers should find a dark spot and look southeast toward the Orion constellation to see the meteors.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame left guard Billy Schrauth left the game early last Saturday after injuring his left knee during a 34-24 win over USC, and coach Marcus Freeman said he has not received a clear diagnosis yet. The injury adds to his past ankle issues and comes as the team has lost other key offensive line players (posing extra challenges for upcoming games).  South Bend Tribune
