COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday, HUGG Fest at the St. Joseph County Library provided caregivers with rest, recognition, and a chance to connect — the event featured live music, speakers, and food. Hosted by You Too Inc., the fest helped caregivers refocus on self-care and community support.  WSBT
  • At South Bend Farmers Market on Nov 1, Rotary Club members led the Red Kettle campaign for the Salvation Army and Kroc Center — Christine Ringle and Mary Mathews urged shoppers, including children who rang the bell, to donate. The drive will continue at several South Bend locations — funds raised will help local families in need this holiday season.  ABC 57

CULTURE NEWS

  • The South Bend History Museum will host Rockne, Art & Technology on November 9 at 2 p.m. as Kamish Studios and sculptor Paul Kamish lead an audio session and panel discussion that will show how ideas turn into art through live demonstrations and exhibit tours for 5 dollars admission.  ABC 57
  • ABC57 brought home two Emmys today for news gathering on weather for Winter Symphony and for diversity, equity, inclusion work on Access to Justice by Brianna Clark (awarded by the Chicago Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences). The wins mark a significant honor for the station (recognizing excellence in local broadcasting).  ABC 57

SPORTS NEWS

  • After listing nine players as questionable earlier this week, 12th-ranked Notre Dame football was mostly healthy for Saturday’s game against Boston College. Junior cornerback Christian Gray was listed as questionable with a left hip issue while freshman Mark Zackery IV was set to match up against preseason All-American Leonard Moore (Jaden Greathouse, Cooper Flanagan, Micah Gilbert and Styles Prescod did not play).  South Bend Tribune
  • Mishawaka Marian will face Park Tudor today in the IHSAA Class 2A girls soccer state final at Carroll Stadium on the campus of IU Indianapolis—this is the school's third title attempt following losses in 2021 and 2024, with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m.  South Bend Tribune
  • Knox Senior Running Back Myles Mclaughlin became Indiana's all-time career rusher Friday when he ran 408 yards in a sectional game, bringing his total to 11,004 yards and beating the old record of 10,867 yards (set in 2019 by Charlie Spegal). Knox won 50 to 35 at home and will play Mishawaka Marian next Friday.  ABC 57
  • Notre Dame basketball opens its season at home against LIU Brooklyn on November 3 at 7 p.m. at Purcell Pavilion—LIU Brooklyn ended last season at 17-16 with a strong defense and is expected to present a real test for the Irish—making this matchup one to watch closely.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football beat Boston College 25—10 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill on Saturday; the Irish earned a sixth straight win at 6—2 while the injury-marred Eagles dropped to 1—8.  South Bend Tribune
