- ➤ The South Bend Police Department’s Santa’s Elficers now has a permanent home on South Scott Street after FOP Lodge 36 raised funds for the former South Bend Woodworks building—Joshua Morgan said the new facility will help organize the donation-driven program and allow it to start earlier to assist more families in need during the holiday season. - ➤ South Bend professor and poet Joyelle McSweeney—who competed on Jeopardy!—came in third with $7,200 Tuesday night after winning $17,700 on her first appearance, ending her run on the show. WSBT
- ➤ New data released on Nov. 5 shows that over 3,000 third graders in Indiana were held back under the IREAD retention law because they did not pass the state's reading test—those students will get tutoring and summer school while others advanced after meeting exemptions. South Bend Tribune
