GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County leaders Derek Dieter and Steve Sass said Tuesday that they plan to work with St. Thomas More Academy to have a school move into Portage Manor while preserving the site's 90 acres for public use—County Commissioners will consider a management plan to outline the next steps. This effort follows last week’s Council vote in favor of the proposal.  WSBT
  • South Bend reopened Mishawaka Avenue after a months-long streetscape project that added new sidewalks, curbs, lighting, underground utilities, and a raised intersection—key updates that improved safety for pedestrians and drivers. Local business owners noted that the upgrades helped reduce traffic dangers after a ribbon cutting on Tuesday.  WSBT

HEALTH NEWS

  • HealthLinc received American Heart Association Gold recognition for its type 2 diabetes care as the disease affects many local families. The center will offer free cooking classes in Knox on Nov. 20 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. CT and in Mishawaka on Nov. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.—classes open to all residents.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • After Tuesday's College Football Playoff rankings came out, Notre Dame football is set to play a first-round road game if trends hold — the team won eight straight games with a 37-15 victory over Pittsburgh while Miami’s rise may affect its seeding. Coach Marcus Freeman’s squad will soon play its final home game — they will travel to Stanford on Nov. 29.  South Bend Tribune
