COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A South Bend family served a full Thanksgiving meal to those facing hardship, providing turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing and plenty of pies. The event grew from a small family effort into a community gathering that ensured many had a warm holiday meal.  WSBT
  • At Walker Field, locals held the 60th Turkey Bowl where the Old Guys beat the Young Guys and honored a neighbor who passed away last year—players said the game showed what Thanksgiving means to their community.  WSBT
  • Firefighters at Station 1 celebrated Thanksgiving by preparing a homemade feast with stuffing, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and pumpkin pie — a tradition that comforts those working away from home as they stayed alert for emergency calls.   • Freya is an energetic nearly two-year-old Labradoodle (weighing about 50 pounds and knowing several commands) available for adoption through Pet Refuge in South Bend and she would be a good match for a family with dog experience.  South Bend Tribune

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com showed that in October the median home listing price in St. Joseph County dropped to $279,675 from $288,450 the previous month—a 3% decrease. The price was 17.8% higher than in October last year when it was $239,900 and homes were on the market for a median of 44 days.  South Bend Tribune
