  • ABC57 Minute Miracle returns for 2025—meteorologist Emmett Twomey will search for a person in need of a miracle in South Bend this holiday season.  ABC 57
  • This week, community meals offer a Soup Night today at Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with soup available until gone, a fish fry on Dec. 5 at South Bend and Mishawaka sites, a kitchen open dinner on Dec. 5 and Dec. 7 at a local American Legion post, and a Polish Dinner Buffet on Dec. 5 at MR Falcons. Several Breakfast with Santa events are set for Dec. 6 at University Park Mall, 4-H Fairgrounds, South Bend Civic Theatre and Blue Gate Restaurant — check local venues for full pricing details and ticketing — so residents can plan their meals accordingly.  South Bend Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • South Bend Record Show will run Sunday, Dec 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gillespie Conference Center at Hilton Garden Inn—where 37 vendors from six states offer used LPs, new vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and other music items including Christmas tunes; door prizes will be drawn at noon and 2 p.m. for a chance to win $25 certificates and record products.  South Bend Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The South Bend Community School Board voted Monday night to move forward with a contract extension for superintendent Mansour Eid—his current contract expires at the end of the school year and the extension will run through June 30, 2027 with an official vote expected at the next meeting.  WSBT
  • The Tribune has asked readers to vote for the Student of the Week by honoring nominees from Adams High and NorthWood High—voting remains open until noon Thursday, Dec.4 and the winner will be announced on Friday online and in Monday’s print edition.  South Bend Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Joseph County highway crews are working hard today to clear main roads as heavy snowfall continues across the region — residents say that neighborhood streets and cul-de-sacs remain unplowed. County officials explained that crews follow a priority system that clears busy roads first before coming back to less traveled areas.  ABC 57

SPORTS NEWS

  • Voting is open now for the South Bend Tribune High School Football Player of the Year—unlimited votes will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. December 6. The nominees, listed alphabetically by school, include standout players from local high schools.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry said his team earned a C in Las Vegas after early shot misses and few extra passes hurt their play against Kansas and Houston—he said the team must share the ball more and work to improve for today’s game against Missouri and Friday’s game at TCU.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football is set to open its Early Signing Period Wednesday morning — led by fourth-year coach Marcus Freeman, first-year GM Mike Martin and recruiting director Carter Auman — as it looks to build a championship-level 2026 class with five-star players like defensive end Rodney Dunham and tight end Ian Premer. National recruiting rankings place the Irish as one of the top classes behind USC and Georgia.  South Bend Tribune
