- ➤ The Tolson Center for Community Excellence will host a free Christmas Posada on Dec. 19 from 4 to 9 p.m. at 1320 Benham Ave featuring giveaways, festive treats and a visit from Santa—an event honoring Mexican traditions for families of all ages. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Jaworski's Market in South Bend closed after 30 years in business when owner Chris Jaworski died last month and will hold a close out sale Friday and Saturday (from noon to 6 p.m.). WSBT

- ➤ Ike Wynter used reclaimed wood from South Bend and Campus to create a new Notre Dame basketball logo now displayed at Purcell Pavilion near section 107; the school commissioned his work after seeing him at the NFL Draft in Green Bay (he is known for his simple style). WSBT
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a quarter point today, marking its third rate cut since Sept. 2024, and IUSB economics professor Klajdi Bregu said small businesses will mainly benefit from lower short-term loan rates. WSBT

- ➤ St. Joseph County Council declined a rezoning request for a proposed $13 billion data center near New Carlisle after a 9-hour meeting, and South Bend mayor James Mueller said the decision is a setback as alternative tech investments are being considered (2 votes in favor and 7 opposed). WSBT

- ➤ Benton Harbor native Jim Willard is using his remaining time to boost ALS awareness + show the disease's toll on families by launching a Give-Butter campaign with fellow patient Rowyn Wilke. - ➤ Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua said he will continue to boost coach Marcus Freeman's living, breathing contract with regular raises, supporting the football team's efforts. The planned adjustments aim to strengthen the program in upcoming games. South Bend Tribune
