  • Downtown for the Holidays showcases decorated trees, gingerbread houses and the Holiday Light Parade—with Gingerbread Village entries at the Courtyard by Marriott until Dec. 24—and Santa will greet children from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 23 and 24 at his house next to the South Bend Chocolate Café.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame basketball lost to Purdue Fort Wayne 72-69 on Sunday at Purcell Pavilion, ending a four-game win streak and a perfect home record. Coach (Micah Shrewsberry) said the team will refocus during a short Christmas break before resuming play on Dec. 26.  South Bend Tribune
  • The South Bend Tribune today announced its 2025 All Area High School Football Team, naming 64 players from 24 schools. The list highlights top performers and multi position standouts with season stats like 2,300+ all purpose yards and key tackles.  South Bend Tribune
  • The South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week poll is open for voting—residents may cast their vote once per hour until Christmas Day at 11:59 p.m. The poll features 23 nominees from 16 area schools for performances from December 15-20.  South Bend Tribune
  • Hannah Hidalgo recorded the first 30-point triple-double in Notre Dame women’s basketball history by scoring 30 points with 10 assists and 13 steals in 22 minutes during the 110-38 win against Bellarmine on December 21. Her achievement gives the team a strong start as they build season momentum.  South Bend Tribune
